Following our unbeaten run in the league format of the Bacher Houli Soccer Cup, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ faced Al Taqwa in a highly anticipated grand final.
We had the privilege of playing at the new home of Melbourne City’s training grounds in Cranbourne, which added to the excitement of the day.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams giving their all. After a thrilling game, the scores were level at 2-2 by full-time, pushing us into extra time.
Despite both teams' efforts, no goals were scored during extra time, leading the game into a penalty shootout.
In a nail-biting finish, Al Siraat narrowly missed out, losing 5-3 on penalties, placing us as runners-up.
While the result was disappointing for the team, I am immensely proud of the boys' commitment and the spirit in which they played the game. Although our players were understandably deflated by the loss, valuable lessons were learned that will undoubtedly serve them well in future tournaments.
