In a thrilling Futsal encounter at BRUNSWICK Futsal OZ on 30 April 2024, our Year 5/6 girls kicked off the match with intense energy as both teams displayed their offensive prowess. Our girls took an early lead with a series of quick and precise passes, putting pressure on the opposing defence, demonstrating excellent defensive stability and strategic play.
The second half saw an even more intense battle as both teams intensified their efforts to secure the win. Our girls continued to dominate possession, capitalizing on their attacking opportunities with clinical finishing. The defensive line held firm, thwarting numerous attempts from the other teams to equalize the score. Despite the relentless pressure, our girls maintained their composure and discipline, eventually extending their lead with well-crafted counterattacks and set-piece opportunities.
Cheers erupted from the sidelines as our girls celebrated a hard-fought victory, winning all the 3 matches, mashAllah. Our girls qualified for the grand final where we versed Ilim College. The match showcased the exceptional teamwork, skill and determination of every player on the team. Unfortunately, 3 seconds to the end of the Grand Final, Ilim College scored their first goal against our team, taking the lead and our girls came second.
The "Player of the match" honour was awarded to Ava from Year 5G4 whose exceptional performance was instrumental in securing the near win, and the rest of the girls were awarded medals.
