Year 6's Janazah Workshop

12 August 2022

It has been a very busy week at the Student Support Department (SSD), we have been working on lots of new initiatives for our students which will be announced very soon, inShaAllah.

On Tuesday, 8 August 2022, we had organised a Janazah workshop for our Year 6 students which was presented by Ms Sara and Ms Saniya from our Religion Department, run in conjunction with our SSD team.

During the workshop, students were shown the Islamic ghusl process, including the correct way to shroud the body, empathizing on the importance of modesty at the time of death.

Students were explained why women have more layers (Kafan) compared to men and the reasons why at the time of death, Allah The Most Kind wants us to return back to Him, in the most modest manner.

The workshop was an opportunity for our students to understand that Islam views death as a transition to another state of existence called the afterlife. Where you go in the afterlife depends on how well you followed the teachings of Islam. As Muslims, we believe that if you lived a good life practising your religion, then inShaAllah, you will go to Paradise after you die. And if you lived your life disobeying Allah and His teachings, then the hell fire awaits you. And Allah knows best.

When it comes to grieving and saying goodbye to a loved one, it is the most challenging part of one's life. Mourning and grieving is and always will be a human emotion that we all display at the loss of a loved one. However it’s important we educate ourselves with the correct manner of mourning in Islam.

May Allah The Most Kind bless us all with a good death and may all our hidden deeds weigh heavy on our scale on the Day of Judgement. Ameen.
